I just got a male betta last night and he's been trying to eat the pellets but he keeps spitting them back out. they seem like they are too hard or something for him. Is he getting any food off of the pellet even though he's spitting them back out? It's not like he doesn't like them. He rushes up to them and try's really hard to eat it. Please help thanks!

You're exactly right, they are a bit hard and he's just trying to soften them a bit. Try soaking them in a little water for few minutes before you feed him and that should help.
As for the rest, he's probably just adjusting to his new home and will settle down before long at all.

yeah then ur fish has some issues i have a parana and that thing eats like there is no tomorrow yeah um maybe u should get a parana
Yup, the pellets are probably too hard for him, or too large. Pre-soaking them in a bit of tank water for about 10 minutes will do the trick.
It's also possible that he doesn't like the taste of the food you're giving him. Provided you're feeding him betta food, this isn't your fault - it's his fault, for being a picky eater. Bettas are picky eaters and if they've been fed with the same food for awhile, they might not want to switch. In this case, your betta has been fed the same food at the pet store for ages and doesn't want a change. If this is the case, you should just leave him. Many betta-keepers don't feed their newly-bought bettas for a couple of days, for this reason.
Try feeding him again in two days. Don't worry about him starving, bettas can go up to a week without food, completely unharmed. After two days, he will almost definitely eat.
