Beta+goldfish=love?

Can i put a goldfish in a fish bowl with a beta?
Answers:
No, neither fish should be kept in a bowl and the betta is a tropical fish needing 78-82 degree temps.
The goldfish is a cold water fish and should not be kept at temps higher than 70 degrees.
All fish should have aquariums with filters to keep their water clean.
BTW, it is spelled betta and pronounced bet-tah, not bay-tah.
No, dont even try its dead the next day this happen when I was like 5 lol
Goldfish require different temperatures and different food. Plus, bettas are pretty aggressive, and may hurt your goldfish. Don't try it!
Beta+goldfish=dead goldfish
Betas aren't friendly. At least not the 6 I had
No, for a few reasons.
First, gold fish cannot live in bowls. There is no oxygen flow in a bowl and a gold fish will suffocate and die very quickly in a bowl.
Second, beta's attack anything with long flowing fins, which most fancy goldfish have.
Third, there is not enough space in a bowl. One goldfish need about 5-20 gallons of water depending on what species it is (2 gallons for every inch of body length).
Betas also need different temperature water than goldfish. Betas need a tank at about 72-78 degrees F and goldfish need a water temperature in the 60's.
noooooo!
Beatas are fighinting fish. Unless you want a dead gold fish. then go for it
i dont think its the best idea the beta fish is known for acting other fish and likeing to be aloone
No.
The betta will not harm your goldfish - bettas only attack fish that resemble other bettas. However, bettas are tropical fish while goldfish are coldwater fish, and the two require completely different water parameters.
It's so common today for many stores to sell Male Betta fish in small bowls. The stores sell them, but they don't believe the buyers will actually keep them in the small fishbowls.
How wrong they are! I've seen many kids yell Mommy, Mommy - I want that fishy! and Momma buys it for them. Where will the Betta stay? Why in that tiny little fishbowl!
However, the current Betta fish craze came into being a couple of years ago in the Crafter Community.
These Crafters made self contained environments for the Betta fishies. They'd take a nice vase, add some glass stones, put in a few nice plants that could grow in water. They'd be anchored in the glass stones.
The roots would grow around the stones and into the water. The vase would be placed into the light. And a Betta Fish would be added.
This was supposed to happen on its own:
1) The Sunlight would make the Plant grow.
2) The Sunlight would make Algae grow on the Plant's Roots.
3. The Betta Fish would eat the Algae on the Plant's Roots.
4. The Betta Fish would poop into the water.
5. The Betta Fish poop would provide fertilizer for the Plant to grow and the Algae to grow.
And vase would have a Life Cycle between the Plant, Algae and the Betta. All the owner had to do was to make sure there was enough Water in the Vase. No food was required to feed the Betta - the Betta got all their required nutrients and food from the Algae on the roots of the Plant.
And the Betta Boom Exploded.
Now you can find Bettas everywhere - even Mom %26 Pop Grocery Stores! I've seen them sold in the little glass fishbowls. I've seen them sold in plastic cups with lits. Even in little baggies!
And no one cares about the water temperature - no one. So the buyers don't know anything about the water temperature.
Remember people keep them in vases in their sunny windows - which get cold at night!
These Bettas still live! They are extremely hardy fish and they take maximum abuse and keep on living.
Its only when people, ignorant owners, really ignorant owners get a hold of them where they can kill them off.
How? Mostly by overfeeding them. Another way is by attempting to breed them. They first condition them (and overfeed them again).
They let them spawn in a small fishbowl - then they're surprised then Daddy eats the fry.
I read a post where the poster said they wanted to kill Daddy for eating the babies. PURE IGNORANCE.
Anyway - that's my background for your question - putting a Goldfish in with a Betta fish -
First - it depends on the size of your fishbowl.
If it's one of those tiny fishbowls - NO WAY. Don't even think it.
If it's a BIG Fishbowl - at least 5 gallons or so - AND you have a filter and aeration - that' means you have it hooked to an air pump to run the filter and an air stone to provide extra oxygen to the water - then maybe you can put them together. But not a fancy goldfish - just one of your small comets. Why?
You want a small one - they produce a lot less waste. Remember, Goldfish are notorious for producing a lot of poop. So you need a lot of filtration to clean the water well.
People may say that Male Betta Fish won't get along with others - well, that's not necessarily true. It is true they will not get along with other Male Betta Fish - that's why their more common name is "Siamese Fighting Fish", but when I was a young teen, I had a community tank and a male betta - and had no problems with him.
Oh, I did like to hold a mirror up to the side of the tank every so often so he could see himself and put on a show. They're very beautiful fish when they put on their fighting display!
=================
So - to condense my answer down to a line or two -
Yes you can one male Betta Fish and one SMALL Goldfish together - but only if you have a LARGE - say 5 or 10 gallon Fish bowl - and it has a Filter and air stones.
if you don't have that setup - forget it. don't mix them up or one or both would die on you. You don't want to be cruel to animals, do you?

The best thing you can do is get a 29 gallon set up and have fun with a community tank of tropicals.
Good Luck,
ken
No no no no no no no no NO! The Betta will kill the Goldfish!
