Ban on tropical fish?

Is there any chance that tropical fish are going to be baned worldwide in the near futture, And has there been any debate about this? thanks
Answers:
There will never be a worldwide ban on anything. We can't even get the Japanese and the Scandnavians to stop killing whales. CITES is able to restrict trade on many species, but there is no way to control the entire planet.
No. Why would they ban tropical fish? That would be like saying you aren't allowed to have a dog because in the wild, they would have more space... That makes no sense. How are they going to force all they pet stores around the world to surrender their fish? There are no worldwide laws... The U.N. may pretend to make laws that apply to the entire world, but how often do they actually enforce them?
no of course not, can you force all kids to give up candy?
where did you hear this?
This will never happen because no one world wide can agree on anything of utmost importance, let alone the the tropical fish trade.
Bans exist in warmer parts of the USA on owning or selling cetain fish because if the are set free they would be able to live and cause harm to native species Much blame for these bans fall on us as hobbists. When we dont want a fish anymore we dont find another home for them or humanly destroy them but set them free in a foreign enviornment. Many tropical can be caught in florida waters that have been release but hobbyist or escaped from fisn farms Luckily most are not a danger to native species but some are.Similar situations have occured in other warm climates of the world and in some cases the native species are extremly endangered A classic example is Lake Victoria in Africa. This type of situation is why certain enviormental groups want to ban tropical fish. But its not likly to happen for most small and peaceful tropical fish
